“COLOURblind: Breaking Down the Barriers of Discrimination” Art Exhibition

The Association of African Canadian Artists celebrates 10 years of inspiring art Exhibitions with COLOURblind.

This is a traveling public art exhibition that explores the issue of racial discrimination from a uniquely Canadian perspective and encourages all Canadians to discuss racial equality. “African Canadians still experience racial discrimination on a daily basis, despite modern Canadian attitudes of cultural diversity and acceptance,” says Mervin Witter, Director for the Ontario Region of the Canadian Human Rights Commission. For this exhibition, African Canadian artists were asked by the Association of African Canadian Artists to demonstrate their leadership on the issue of breaking down the barriers of discrimination by reflecting upon what living in a colourblind world means to them.
